Precinct Reps

Precinct AGM’s took place throughout Feb and Mar and as a result, the following residents have been appointed as the 2018 Community Association Committee. Please feel free to contact your rep to discuss any issues or concerns you have about your precinct and they will be able to either answer your questions or take them to the quarterly Community Association meetings for further discussion.

Security Patrols over the Holidays

Harrington Lifestyle Services (HLS) has been gradually banking hours in the quieter times of the year to accommodate increased security patrols over the Christmas/Jan school holiday period. Subsequently, there will be close to 24hr coverage for this period, to hopefully give residents greater peace of mind during this often higher risk time. We encourage you all to keep an eye on your neighbours’ properties and to report any suspicious activity to security, HLS and also to the police as/if required.

Street Trees

As you would now be aware, once a street tree has been planted on your verge, it then becomes the responsibility of the resident to nurture it. Council are responsible for investigating any incidents relating to the damage of street trees and for replacing dead trees. It should be noted that Council can also apply fines and replacement costs for the deliberate mistreatment of trees. Unfortunately Council lost a large volume of trees during the recent dry spell and have therefore been forced to implement a Street-Tree Planting Program in 2019 in order to budget and plan for the replacement of trees in the Camden Council areas. Therefore if you require a replacement tree on your verge, it may now take over a year to get it replaced once you report it to Council, pending their investigation into why it died/was damaged in the first place. So we encourage all residents to try to water your trees throughout the summer and during any dry spells during 2018 to help prevent large losses in the estate.

Future use of the sales space and back office areas

As the full transition from Harrington Estates over to the Community Association draws nearer, the Executive Committee is being asked to consider their options regarding the future use of the sales area and back-office space at the Country Club.
